Hi there! I am really glad you are here.
My name is Yvonne Kaunda, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Life Coach. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Grace College. At the core of who I am is my faith. It is not something I announce, it is something you will simply experience in the way I show up for you. The belief that anchors everything I do is this: you are made in the image of God. Imago Dei. And that means you carry inherent worth and dignity that no struggle, no season, and no story can ever take away from you.
A little about the human behind the credentials:
· I am a wife and a mother of two: my greatest joy and my most ongoing training ground in patience, grace, and unconditional love.
· I am a master chocolatier. There is no coping skill strong enough to come between me and good chocolate. We have tried. We have accepted the outcome. Life is short!
· In my free time you will find me traveling, taking nature walks, reading, or in the kitchen making something that makes the whole house smell like love.
I work with individuals ages 18 and above navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity, and everything in between. If life has brought you to a place where you know something needs to change but you are not quite sure where to start, that is enough. You belong here too. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered approaches; practical, evidence-based tools that I tailor to fit you, because no two people and no two journeys are exactly the same.
I am also SYMBIS and Prepare and Enrich certified, working with individuals and couples who are dating, engaged, or newly married. We put years into preparing for our careers, and yet we often walk into one of the most significant commitments of our lives without the same intentionality. Marriage deserves that investment too.
When you walk through my door, I will be fully present. No rushing, no judgment, no agenda beyond helping you get where you want to go. You are not here by accident, and I do not take lightly the gift of getting to do this work alongside you.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28
